With origins from the Latin name Caius, kayō means 'rejoice'. At kayō.co, we aim to bring joy and happiness to our customers with our quality handmade polymer clay accessories. We believe that each unique piece has its own story to tell just like everyone else!
OUR STORY
Started in December 2019 by two friends, Jindee and Jael, to bring a little happiness in everyone's lives - hence, the name kayō.co! Having very different skillsets, we realised we can both complement each other and create our own dynamic as we venture into the unfamiliar world of entrepreneurship! Since kicking off the business with our first collection in January 2020, we have received a lot of encouragement and positive reviews from our customers which have become a constant reminder to us to keep doing what we love!

HANDMADE WITH LOVE

GIVING BACK
In June 2020, we launched a fundraising initiative to support single-parent families amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We chose to support HCSA as we found their purpose to be very meaningful, especially after working with them for a school project.
We had the opportunity to work with HCSA Dayspring SPIN in our capacity as students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and this inspired us to do our part in giving back to the community through our small earring business.
As an online shop inspired by the Latin name Caius (which means rejoice), we wanted to use our handcrafted earrings and accessories to bring happiness to everyone’s lives and empower every woman regardless of her background. We thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.
Hence, we decided to donate 100% of our proceeds to help the vulnerable families that SPIN serves. With the support of our customers, we raised $2,100 to help single-parent families cope with a loss of income and support them in adjusting to a new normal.
The experience was nothing short of wonderful! Without a doubt, it brought us joy to bring people together for a common cause and to make a change in our own very way.
One of the most memorable moments was using HCSA’s corporate colours as the inspiration behind our earring collection. Each earring became a visual representation of HCSA’s vision to give a future and a hope to those marginalised in the society.
We believe in giving back to society in every way we can. HCSA is definitely a good place to start your journey of giving back, whether it is in the form of skills, volunteerism or donations.”

MY JOURNEY
Dec 2019 - Oct 2020
My design journey with kayō was one that helped me to grow in terms of my knowledge in business, marketing, design and even managing customers' relationships.
My role entails:
- Design and make polymer clay accessories, with seasonal packaging and cards
- Handling of packing and shipping
- Managing customers’ expectations and relationships
- Procurement of packaging materials and accessories from physical shops and online e-commerce platforms (Shopee and Taobao)
- Designed website with Wix Marketplace
- Executed marketing campaigns and strategies online through Instagram, Facebook Marketplace, Carousell and Etsy
When there are custom orders, I will translate the client's ideas into drawings and words, before it is being made. Our very first custom is to make a pair of earrings that resembles our client's Schnauzer Dexter. Upon giving us the photos of Dexter, we proceeded to make the earrings according to her requests and inputs along the way.
